Just how far?
I've heard this song a number of times on the radio and really love the message from Casting Crowns. I hope you enjoy it and that it brings a measure of peace to your life. I want you to listen to it and then share with me what comes to your mind. Have you ever felt like your past was haunting you and that failure was just around the corner? How far is YOUR east from the west? Is it really one scarred hand to the other? Enjoy.

This song reminds me that God is more willing to forgive me and move forward than at time I am. Its hard to let go of what you were and realize what you can be. I remember a line from the movie “Pretty Women” when Richard Gere is trying to encourage Julia Roberts to believe in herself when she says “Yea, but the bad stuff is easier to believe.”
Why is that?
Caryl you have some some wonderfully unique insights that I never thought of. The answer is sure. I think we must recognize that we have scarred hands before we can embrace the hands of Christ. Until we recognize our need, the message of Christ’s life and sacrifice have little meaning. Thank you so much for challenging me!
Confused, you bring up a good point. I think the bad stuff is easier to believe because we have the gift of memory and we know all our blemishes and scars, even if we try to hide or ignore them. When compared to the perfection of God, we also know the shame of just how ughly our souls must look. It does appear too good to be true that Jesus scarred hands can make even our ughly soul look clean, but believe it!! What good news! Casting Crowns is a blessing to me for that reminder. What awesome news given in an awesome way. Thanks for sharing Steve.
I think what is hardest for me is forgiving myself. Espacially when I think about it was MY sins that held Jesus on that cross. I do believe God forgives our sins, afterall he made us Human. And sometimes those sins can be a blessing as they bring us closer to God. Sometimes it is other Christians that remind us of our past sins. I love the song!
