Our Mission Covenant
Do all the good you can
Reflecting the image of Christ in our actions, attitude, and relationships. Doing what He did as our gift to God.
By all the means you can
In worship, in prayer, in giving, in serving, with time, compassion and gratitude.
In all the ways you can
By building something or doing nothing, by teaching or learning, by talking or listening
In all the places you can
In our family or church, in our community or our workplace, across our country or venturing into someone else’s
At all times you can
For a moment or a day at a time, during our vacation or during the day-to-day routines
To all the people you can
Christians and non-, those with faiths and those without, one at a time or gathered together.
As long as ever you can
Wherever you are in life, as you grow in wisdom, when you are confident and when you are afraid, for as long as God allows.
(adapted from J. Wesley’s Rule)
….thanks, each and all of you, for “doing all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can — this time Haiti — at all the times you can, to all the people — this time to those in the orphanage and beyond — you can.”
It was great to “speak” with you — well, two of you — this morning during Sunday school class. Tony, you drove for four hours? God bless your heart.
My goodness, the prayers upon prayers upon prayers shared with God during both services this morning…on your behalf…on behalf of your mission in Haiti and, therefore, on behalf of the Body’s mission in Haiti because of your presence there…and for your safety, strength, peace, rest, rejuvenation, and energy.
The Body is there with each and all of you in prayer…may your knowledge of that fact be “your strength, your confidence, and your assurance that God is guiding your steps [as you face whatever] challenges” arise during your journey.
Truly, “we are in this together with each and all of you.”
…may you know that even within the chaos of the last twenty-four hours, the serenading of the never-sleeping roosters, the warning of the barking dog, the “eating” of the mosquitos, and the rain-execrated heat and humidity that God is using each and all of you to bring Him honor and glory…that He is constantly shining His Light through each and all of you…and that the Spirit is enabling you to “make disciples and make a difference” is ways you may never know, in ways seen only by God…
…may God’s all-sufficient grace rid you of your exhaustion and your anxiousness…
…may it encompass you with enlivening rest and sleep…
…may it fill your heart with abundant and overflowing peace that “surpasseth your human understanding”…
…and when you waken from being cradled in God’s omnipotent and protective arms, may you “seize the day” with enthusiasm, excitement, and a sense of purpose as you surrender yourself to God’s plan, asking Him, “What do you want me to do for You today, God?” while reminding yourself, “This the day that the LORD hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Numbers 6:24-26…and…in so very many fervent prayers…
…get some sleep…no matter what!
…get some sleep…pray for rest…give into God and His protection of and provision for each of your needs…and go to sleep…
…give yourselves permission to admit to yourselves that you are exhausted…
…get some sleep and rest for the days and the tasks that lie ahead…
Numbers 6:24-26…and…in our prayers…
